Evolving Capabilities
Ever-expanding with growing businesses
Pennoni was retained by Concord Township in Delaware County, PA to provide a redesign of their current onsite GIS system. The primary goal of the project was to assist the Township staff in its transition from desktop GIS to an online portal with Pennoni providing custom web applications. By transitioning the staff to an online platform, users now have the ability to work with their GIS data in a cloud-based system that allows for both field data collection and web browser interaction. In addition to implementing the online platform, Pennoni’s Technology Solutions team created several web applications for both Township staff and citizens. These applications include land use, open space plans, snow plow maps, and other municipal operations.
The site included current Township maps in digital form, such as snow plow routes, open space plans, and other pertinent planning applications. The site itself was designed to replicate the current desktop GIS services while expanding into new areas of ability for users. The new ArcGIS Online platform is user friendly and allows for those with little GIS experience to perform a number of tasks. The move to the new system allows the Township to keep records in one location while also dynamically updating the system. This allows Concord users to save time they would have otherwise spent explaining edits to Pennoni staff.
Our team transitioned the Township staff over to the new platform and provided basic training on the new system. This project will be ongoing as future GIS advancements are made. As more data is collected over time, the GIS will become stronger and able to provide a better understanding of township assets and their changes over time.
