This past Friday, September 20th, our Philadelphia office participated in PARK(ing) Day. This annual event is celebrated globally and raises awareness for the need for green spaces in urban environments. In Philadelphia, more than 50 teams transformed 170 square-foot mini-parks or “parklets” throughout the city for the day.
Pennoni’s parklet theme was a Recharge Station. Anyone passing by 17th and Locust on Friday could stop by and relax in an Adirondack chair all while charging their phone. Phones were recharged using energy from three solar panels set up right at the parklet. Our firm has 200+ MW of commercial and industrial experience ranging from commercial photovoltaic solar installations up to 60 MW cogeneration plants. The parklet was a great way to showcase our capabilities, all while providing renewable energy to power phones throughout the city.
Thanks to our Design-Build team for making this year’s vision a reality, our Group Melvin Division, our marketing team, and all our volunteers who took the time to help us make this year’s PARK(ing) Day a success!
