PHILADELPHIA, PA – Joyce A. Hess, ISCEBS Fellow, CEBS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, has been named the 2020 Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year. The award celebrates the Human Resources industry and recognizes those in the HR profession who exemplify outstanding achievement by demonstrating a creative approach and consistent high performance that benefits an organization. Joyce serves as Vice President and Director of Human Resources and has more than 20 years of experience.
David Pennoni, Chief Operating Officer, congratulated Joyce and said, “This award recognizes Joyce’s leadership and her efforts in positioning Pennoni as a firm that attracts and retains strong talent to support our clients and partners.”
Joyce is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of HR and working with business leaders and the HR team to attract, engage, and develop the best talent for Pennoni to help drive business results for Pennoni and our clients. Appointed by the HR Committee of Pennoni’s Board of Directors, Joyce led the succession planning/recruiting process for both the CEO and COO positions last year. She is a fellow in the International Society of Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS-FELLOW), a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), a Senior Professional in Human Resource (SPHR) as well as a DDI Certified Facilitator.

The award is a joint effort between Chester County Human Resource Association, Delaware County SHRM, Delaware SHRM, Greater Valley Forge HR Association, HR Association of Southern New Jersey, Philadelphia SHRM, Tri-State HR Management Association chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The ceremony was originally scheduled for May, but due to COVID-19 was rescheduled to August and converted to a virtual event.
Marvin Johnson, Pennoni Talent Acquisition Associate, was also nominated in the HR Rising Star of the Year category.
