Evolving Capabilities
Ever-expanding with growing businesses
Roosevelt Plaza Park (RPP) is a historic 75,000-sq.ft. park in front of Camden’s City Hall reopened in June 2012. A collaborative effort between Pennoni, Sikora Wells Appel and New American Public Art created two pop-up iterations to enliven the existing park.
Each version of the pop-up focused on providing a safe, welcoming public space for residents and city workers, providing areas for eating, relaxation and public art. Intermediate Bulk Containers were used to create a seating area and a large light installation with a shade structure. The second reincarnation, RPP water was more interactive and included various ways to learn about the city’s stormwater management efforts, including a rain curtain, water organ, and on-site irrigation system. The project received the APA-NJ Chapter’s Outstanding Implemented Plan Award and the Great Places Award from the EDRA and Project for Public Spaces.
