This summer, Pennoni’s Regional Vice President Todd Hay orchestrated a tour for a local STEAM (science, technology, engineering, architecture, and math) summer camp, Frasers Fractions, at our Newark, NJ office. Frasers Fractions is a summer-long program that offers different activities each week in the northern New Jersey area. Jaliyla Fraser is CEO and Founder of Frasers Solutions and is currently the Supervisor of Mathematics for grades 6 – 12 in the East Orange School District in New Jersey. She founded Frasers to provide young students with the opportunities she had when growing up to be successful in STEAM. The program plans trips to STEAM-related hot-spots like The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) and the Grammy Museum, to learn about coding and 3D printing, stencil screen-printing, and more.
The campers aged 9-14 toured our office and talked with our engineers about their different projects. After the tour, Todd, a NJIT School of Applied Engineering and Technology IAB Member, brought the campers on a small field trip where they got an inside look at NJIT’s Makerspace. There, Makerspace Manager Justin Suriano talked to the campers about 3D printing and then tested them on their knowledge. NJIT’s Makerspace is the largest facility of its kind in the United States. The 10,000-sf space operates equipment ranging from small 3D printers to large industrial machining centers, such as precision measurement and laser cutting machines. Key features include: product design and prototyping, industry standard computer aided design (CAD) and machining (CAM) software, CNC machining, 3D printing, metalwork and welding, electronics design, assembly, and manufacturing, and industrial metrology (measurement and verification).
These community youth-in-STEM efforts are a part of Pennoni’s mission to inspire and educate, and employees across our 35 offices are involved in local groups like this. Watch our video recapping the day.

Regional Vice President and Office Director
Todd serves as Regional Vice President for the Northern New Jersey, New York, and New England Region and as Office Director for our New York City and Boston Offices. He has been working with multidisciplinary engineering projects during his more than 25-year career as a civil engineer, project manager, and principal. Todd is responsible for client service, business development, and managing the success and growth of our projects and staff within the region.
