Evolving Capabilities
Ever-expanding with growing businesses
The Aston Township amphitheater is more than just a stage—it’s a community centerpiece that brings people together. Nestled between the ADA-compliant “Smiles in the Playground” and athletic fields, the amphitheater is a hub for gatherings and entertainment for anyone in or around Aston, PA. This carefully planned project, spearheaded by Pennoni, reflects the township’s dedication to fostering community engagement and creating versatile spaces for residents of all ages.
One of the unique aspects of this project was Pennoni’s role in assisting Aston Township in securing grants to fund the amphitheater’s construction. Through meticulous planning and coordination, Pennoni helped obtain a $393,420 in grant funding between two phases from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which required a matching contribution from the township. This funding strategy, combined with community input and phased development, ensured financial feasibility and alignment with the community’s vision. The amphitheater, designed to be ADA-accessible and usable for various events, features thoughtful elements like ramp access, integrated lighting, and a durable canopy. This project was a large cross-marketing effort in design across Pennoni office and divisions with site civil design in West Chester, PA, structural design in Philadelphia, electrical and lighting in Newark, DE, and Pennoni FX Studios for project renderings. The placement next to the playground creates a cohesive recreation area that welcomes organized events and spontaneous gatherings. Pennoni and the township are actively seeking funding for phase 3 which will include a second access, digital signage, truck access, benches and trash receptacles.
The Aston Township amphitheater is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision. With each phase of the project meticulously planned and executed, this amphitheater has already hosted its first events and promises to be a vital part of Aston’s community life for years to come.
