Aston Township in Delaware County, PA covers approximately six square miles and is home to more than 16,500 residents. As the Township Engineer for Aston, Pennoni used Esri Story Maps to showcase capital improvement projects that have been completed by Pennoni for Aston Township. ESRI Story Maps allow Pennoni to take spatial data from projects and create custom web applications. With narrative text, images, and multimedia content to be used as an enhanced presentation tool or digital portfolio. The Story Map allowed Township officials the unique ability to view all completed and ongoing projects within the Township Area and in proximity to one another. Projects highlighted include: 452 Interconnect which retimed traffic signals to maximize vehicle movement; watershed basin improvements; roundabout installations to improve traffic flow and safety; Village Green Schoolhouse Roof replacement with historically accurate shingles; streetscape improvements; Valley View Park construction; and stream restoration.
Pennoni’s grant services played a critical role in this project as well. A grant helped Aston Township secure more than $9 million in grant funding for projects including roadway safety, streetscaping, water quality, and parks.
