Improvements were made to increase the capacity of the intersection of MD 185 and Jones Bridge Rd in Bethesda, Maryland. This project included widening southbound MD 185 to add a right-turn lane from the I-495 (Capital Beltway) off ramp; widening northbound MD 185 to add a fourth lane as a right-turn lane to the I-495 on ramp; widening the west leg of Jones Bridge Road to add an additional left-turn lane; and the widening the east leg of Jones Bridge Road to provide two through lanes and two right-turn lanes. Other improvements include sidewalk improvements, replacing existing curbs and gutters, reconstruction of traffic signals, landscaping, bus stop and transit improvements, and right-of-way coordination and acquisition. Storm drainage improvements, and stormwater management improvements were added, which includes the installation of two micro-bio retention facilities, underground storage facilities and porous sidewalks to remediate environmental impacts.
