Developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey – and managed, operated and leased by The Durst Organization, One World Trade Center is redefining Lower Manhattan’s New York skyline. Standing at a symbolic 1,776 feet tall, the architectural and engineering marvel is an ever-present symbol of renewal and hope. The Port Authority’s work at the 16-acre WTC site is estimated at $12 billion and includes 46,000 tons of structural steel for the Freedom Tower alone. Additional towers at the WTC site bring the total estimated work at the 16-acre site to more than $20 billion.
Pennoni has been providing on-call structural steel inspection services for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for almost 20 years. Services have included fabrication inspection in Spain for the September 11 Memorial, fabrication inspection in Virginia and Canada for the One World Trade, and field inspection and testing for the Port Authority’s work at the World Trade Center (WTC) site, which includes the Transportation Hub, September 11 Memorial, and One World Trade.
